KAJIB’ AJPU ~ Today’s Ch’umil
The Mayan calendar contains within it several cycles that go from the trecenas (thirteen-day cycle) and veintenas (20 day cycle) to the great periods of thousands of years that mark prophetic changes. Each one of these cycles is interwoven with another, thus forming the tapestry of our history and evolution. Knowing this allows us to understand our own evolutionary process, as we become aware that we move through a spiral of time in which we return to our experiences and learnings. Ajaw Ajpu is a Ch’umil of great importance in this sense, for its energy marks the opening of new cycles. The date of the 13th B’ak’tun began on a day 13.0.0.0.0.0 4 Ajpu 8 Kumk’u, on this day the creation of a new era for humanity began. According to the wisdom transmitted by our ancestors this is a number of great transcendence, for it is a number that connects us with the whole and brings us stability.
