B’atz’ signifies unity and infinite time, it is love and its energy governs over marriage. Number 2 symbolizes the partner, the union and relationships. Let the love of B’atz’ be your guide during this day, allow it to strengthen the ties that unite you to your partner, so that you can support each other with affection and share good times together.
1 Tz’i’ – Today’s Ch’umil & Trecena Prayer
Tz’i’ represents authority and justice; it is the energy of the material and spiritual law, of the righteous path. Number 1 is the beginning; it contains a great power, but it lacks the experience. During this trecena (thirteen days) connect to the energy of Tz’i’ and ask for its power and intervention to solve any problems and injustices that may appear on your path.

In this sacred day Cholq’ij Tz’i’ Ajaw, I ask that in your presence Ajaw Heart of the Sky and Heart of Mother Earth there is no rumor, slander, or defamation from false accusers that can involve me; that all blasphemy from my enemies is discarded by your divine force. I ask that all falsehood in the words is abhorred by the people, so that we can live at peace, Ajaw Heart of the Sky and Heart of Mother Earth. I ask you to purify my ears from the gossip and the false testimony, I ask you to purify my mind, my hands, my feet, and my soul Ajaw Heart of the Sky and Heart of Mother Earth. I ask you Ajaw that all lies are soon completely elucidated so that they cause no harm in me and in my sons and daughters. 13 Toj – Today’s Ch’umil
Toj symbolizes the Sacred Ceremonial Fire; it is the sign of payment and the energy that repays us for all the good and bad we have done in our lives. Number 13 contains strength, wisdom, and experience, it is the magic of being able to change and create. This is a special day for making offerings to the Ajaw thorough the Sacred Fire, thank him for everything you have and will receive, for all you are, and for what you have accomplished. This is the last day of the No’j trecena (thirteen days) thank the Creator and Maker for all the knowledge and wisdom you have received.
12 Q’anil – Today’s Ch’umil
Number 12 has the energy to ignite and put your plans into action. Q’anil, the seed, symbolizes the energy of creation; every project or relationship that is planted on a day Q’anil has a positive future. This is a good day to plant all those dreams that you want to materialize.
How To: Home Energy Cleansing
Much of our life takes place in our home. Our home is imprinted with our energy, both negative and positive, it is imprinted with our joys and hopes, our sadness and anxieties, our memories and thoughts, our fears and yearnings…thus it can be oversaturated with energy, making us feel stuck. Our home should be our refuge, the space where we recharge ourselves, where we find peace and joy, for this reason the energy of our home needs to flow, we need to renew it from time to time. The best way to do this is by making an energy cleansing, so that the spirit of our house vibrates with positive energy and harmony.
In Maya culture there are several techniques to cleanse and renew the energy of our space. One of these techniques is to work with the energy of the four elements -Fire, Earth, Wind, and Water-.
We will begin working with the energy of fire. For this we will use a red, a black (or purple), a white, and a yellow candle. We will stand in the center of our home, facing east. We will hold the candles in our hands and we will speak to them outloud, asking that through their flame they will remove any negative energies, that through their fire they will bring light and warmth to our home. Once we have finished praying we will light the four candles in the center of our home, placing them in a cross to each of the four corners: East/Red, West/Black, North/White, South/Yellow.
Then we will work with the energy of earth. For this we will need one obsidian stone* for each room of the house. We will hold the stones while facing West and we will ask them to cut away or repel any negative energy that may come to our home, we will ask them to guard and protect each room of our house. Once we are done connecting to and praying to the stones, we will place one obsidian stone in every room.
Now we will work with the energy air. For this we will use incense (preferably citrus). We will hold the incense in our hands while facing North and we will ask that through its smoke, through the energy of air, it will cleanse all negativity and oversaturated energy from our home, permeating it with all forms of positive energy. We will then light the incense and smudge every room, every corner, every area of our house.
We will then work with the energy of water. For this we will either use water that is found in nature (from a river, lake, ocean, stream, spring, etc.) or we will mix water with floral or rose water. We will place the water in container facing South and we will ask it to use its cleansing properties to remove any negative energies from our house. We will then charge the water with the energy of peace, joy, love, harmony… with any positive energy we can think of. We will ask the water to spread all these positive energies throughout our home. Once we are done praying to and energizing the energy of water, we will sprinkle some water in each room.
We will finish our work by taking some time to thank each of the elements for their help in the cleansing, protecting and positively energizing of our home. We will also take a moment to connect to the spirit of our home, we will thank it and we will harmonize ourselves with it.
*These stones need to be previously cleansed and energized: To cleanse them you can smudge them to remove any negative energy they might have absorbed. Once they are clean place them outside on the ground, so that they are energized by the energy of Mother Earth, the energy of the Sun and the energy of the Moon. (Never use salt to clean the crystals or stones. If you want to work with water to cleanse them, use floral or rose water).
11 Kej – Today’s Ch’umil
Kej projects the energy of balance; it represents harmony and it is a good day to find balance with the four elements and with Mother Nature. Number 11 brings spiritual tests; it is a day to transmute our experiences into wisdom. If number 11 brings you unbalance during this day, take a walk in nature or light a candle to connect to Kej and obtain its equilibrium and positive energy.
10 Kame – Today’s Ch’umil
Number 10 symbolizes the communication with the Cosmic and Telluric energies. Kame is the energy of our ancestors, of our spiritual and family lineage. The energies of this day open a channel that connects us with other dimensions and allows our ancestors to guide us and advise us. Light a purple candle to honor the memory of those who have parted and to thank them for their help and guidance.
9 Kan – Today’s Ch’umil
Number 9 symbolizes the circle of life; it is the development of a person throughout their life. Kan is the energy that strengthens your inner fire and through it the Creator and Maker of the Universe pours its energy and wisdom into you. You are in a constant dance with the Universe and its energies, connect to them and use their wisdom for your personal development.
