9 B’ATZ ~ Today’s Ch’umil
The cycle of 260 days of the Sacred Cholq’ij Calendar begins in a day Wajxaqib’ (8) B’atz’, day in which the energies of the material plane and the masculine energy are manifested. The Maya world gives much importance to the balance of the dual energies, to the equilibrium of life. Today, forty days after we celebrated the creation of this physical/material world, we reach Belejeb’ (9) B’atz’, the polarity of the female energy, of the most sublte essence. This celebration marks a balance between the material and spiritual, between the male and female. Belejeb’ B’atz’ connects us to the creative energy, it brings kindness, and helps us elevate to a high level of spiritual consciousness. This day brings many elements of the female energy, reason for which it is known as the day of the Maya woman. Let’s light a candle or a Sacred Ceremonial Fire to connect to the force of Belejeb’ B’atz’, to thank for our life, to develop the power of our female polarity, increase our sensitivity, our creative ability, and to connect to those sublte energies that impel our spiritual development. Today we can thank and invoke the power of the great Grandmothers. To the guardians of the four corners and the four elements; Kaja Paluna, Chomija, Tz’ununija’ y Kaqixaja’. To the two times grandmother Ixmukane, who was a great Ajq’ij, midwife, and creator of humanity. To Q’apoj Ixkik’ giver of the abundance of corn. To Qatit Ixchel grandmother rainbow and guardian of the weavings. To the grandmothers Ixtoj, Ixq’anil, Ixkakaw, and Ixpu Tziya, guardians of the milpa (plantation of maize, beans, and squash), and to all the divine manifestations of the female energy of Mother Earth.
El ciclo de 260 días del Calendario Cholq’ij inicia en un día Wajxaqib’ B’atz’, día en que se manifiestan las energías del plano material, de lo masculino. El mundo Maya da mucha importancia al balance de las energías duales, al equilibrio de la vida. Hoy, cuarenta días después de haber celebrado la creación de este mundo físico/material, arribamos a Belejeb’ B’atz’, la polaridad de la energía femenina, de la esencia más sutil. Esta celebración marca un balance entre lo material y lo espiritual, entre lo femenino y lo masculino. Belejeb’ B’atz’ nos conecta a la energía creativa, nos trae bondad y nos ayuda a alcanzar un alto nivel de conciencia espiritual. Este día trae consigo muchos elementos de la energía femenina, por lo que es conocido como el día de la mujer Maya. Encendamos una vela o un Sagrado Fuego Ceremonial para conectarnos a la fuerza de Belejeb’ B’atz’, para agradecer por nuestra vida, desarrollar el poder de nuestra polaridad femenina, incrementar nuestra sensibilidad, nuestra capacidad creativa y conectarnos a todas esas energías sutiles que impulsan nuestro desarrollo espiritual. A la dos veces abuela Ixmukane, quien fue una gran Ajq’ij, comadrona y creadora de la humanidad. A Q’apoj Ixkik’ dadora de la abundancia del maíz. A Qatit Ixchel la abuela arcoíris, guardiana de los tejidos. A las abuelas Ixtoj, Ixq’anil, Ixkakaw y Ixpu Tziya guardianas de la milpa, y a todas las manifestaciones divinas de la energía femenina de la Madre Tierra.
