After greeting the wise elder, I told Don Ramón that I wanted to ask him about what is often called the “madness” associated with Imox. He explained that in recent times there has been a great deal of interference in the texts, with people adding words based on what each person thinks or understands within the Great Tradition. He reminded me that we have not changed the texts, not even a single word of the oral tradition that has been passed down for thousands of years. Yet today many believe they have the right to speak on our behalf. Most do not do so with bad intentions; the real problem is that respect for the Elders has been lost. There are people who read a little or spend some time with an Ajq’ij and then believe that this gives them the right to write, interpret, or add their own ideas to the meaning of our knowledge. The problem is that this confuses many people, who are told that this is Maya. We are living in a time of openness of knowledge, but in the desire to stand out, the true meaning that has prevailed in the depth of the schools is distorted, not only in the Maya tradition, but in others as well.
To clarify the meaning of Ajaw Imox, what has been referred to as “madness” from a somewhat limited understanding, has to do with the person who does things differently, who dares to break away from what is established, who seeks true value in everything. These are people who can go beyond limits, and that is why they are called a bit “crazy.” This has nothing to do with being out of one’s mind or suffering from a mental disorder. Imox can throw you off balance if you lack clarity, and it is not surprising that on days ruled by this Ch’umil or Nawal, unusual things may occur. The teaching of Ajaw Imox is an opening to the unknown. Imox is the one who brings intuition, vision, and revelations through dreams. It allows reality and dreams to interact so that one becomes a continuation of the other. It helps activate mental communication, awakens dormant senses, and gives us the determination to reach and fulfill our level as human beings. It helps us define and create our reality.
To recognize that you have dormant powers and to choose to activate them without fear is to remember that these tools live within you, given to you so you may reach fullness and become one with Creation.
Luego de saludar al sabio abuelo, le dije: Don Ramón, le quiero preguntar acerca de la locura que dicen significa Imox. Él respondió que en estos últimos tiempos ha habido mucha injerencia en los textos y se ponen palabras desde lo que piensa o entiende cada persona dentro de la Gran Tradición. Recuerda que nosotros no cambiamos ni textos ni una sola palabra de la tradición oral que ha venido transmitiéndose por miles de años. Pero ahora muchos se creen con el derecho de hablar por nosotros; muchos no lo hacen de mala intención, el problema consiste en que ya no se respeta a los Mayores. Han surgido una serie de personas que leen o pasan una temporada con un Ajq’ij y con eso creen tener el derecho a escribir, interpretar o añadir sus ideas al significado de nuestro conocimiento. El problema es que confunden a mucha gente diciendo que esto es Maya. Esta época es de apertura del conocimiento, pero en el afán de figurar se tergiversa el sentido real que ha prevalecido en la profundidad de las escuelas, no solo de la Maya, también de otras tradiciones.
Para aclararte lo de Ajaw Imox, lo que, desde una interpretación un tanto limitada, se ha denominado “la locura” tiene que ver con la persona que hace las cosas diferentes, que se atreve a romper los esquemas de lo establecido, que busca el verdadero valor en todo y estas personas pueden ir más allá de los límites; por eso se dice que son algo “locos”. Esta situación no tiene que ver con personas o acciones que nos indiquen que se está mal de la cabeza o que se padece de un trastorno mental. Imox te puede desbalancear si no tienes claridad. Y no es de extrañarse que los días con este Ch’umil / Nawal sucedan cosas extrañas. La enseñanza de Ajaw Imox es de apertura a lo desconocido. Imox es quien trae la intuición, la visión, las revelaciones en sueños: da la interacción de la realidad con los sueños, para que el uno sea continuidad del otro. Nos permite activar la comunicación mental. Es quien activa los sentidos dormidos y nos da la determinación para alcanzar y completar nuestro nivel como humanos. Nos ayuda a definir y crear nuestra realidad.
Reconocer que tienes poderes dormidos y decidir activarlos sin temor es recordar que esas herramientas viven en ti para alcanzar la plenitud y ser uno con la Creación.
