Nawal AjThe most important relationship of our life is the one we have with ourselves.

As I think about and feel the energy of this day, the energy that speaks to us of our divinity and reminds us of the sacred altar that our body is, of how perfect our being is, I find myself wondering what we would do if, for a time, we were responsible for caring for the body and the whole being of someone else, someone we love deeply. Would we judge harshly how that person looks or who they are, would we ignore their natural rhythms, be careless about how they are nourished or how much movement they receive, or would we treat them with care, with love, with patience, with awareness and compassion? And from there comes the question of why it is sometimes so hard to do this in our own lives, why offering ourselves that same love can feel so difficult. I believe this day reminds us of this and invites us to see the importance of loving ourselves as we are, of caring for our own being, of prioritizing and respecting our needs. It invites us to give ourselves, as the seeds we are, the time and the conditions needed to grow and to flourish.
