We are the pollinators of the reality that blossoms around us.

If the seeds that grow the most are those we care for and nurture, why, instead of contributing to the change we want to see in the world through fighting or imposing, do we not choose to sow? Somos los polinizadores de la realidad que florece a nuestro alrededor.

Si las semillas que más crecen son aquellas que cuidamos y nutrimos, ¿por qué en vez de contribuir al cambio que queremos ver en el mundo desde la pelea o la imposición, no elegimos sembrar? ¿Por qué no dejamos de esparcir esas semillas de conflicto y en lugar de destruir elegimos crear, dando vida a lo que queremos ver florecer? Whoever receives knowledge also receives the responsibility to place it in service of others.

On Wajxaqib’ Kej, the day that honors spiritual authority, I want to honor my father, Tat Carlos Barrios, who shared so much of his knowledge with me and was one of my teachers on my path as an Ajq’. So I will do this by remembering and sharing his words about what it means to be a teacher.

If you do not extend a hand to those who are still climbing, do not expect a hand to reach down to you, especially if you did not know how to appreciate what others did for you. It is a matter of the law of reciprocity, we must help those who are climbing. Yet sadly we see that the tendency is toward selfishness, toward not sharing, as if knowledge were something private that belongs to only one person. I do not know who gave these people the right to hide what belongs to everyone. The problem lies in the fact that through this knowledge they believe themselves powerful, and their belief tells them that by sharing it they will lose their fame, their power, and their source of income. They do not realize that through these actions they only stagnate and delay their own evolution.

Let us remember that a spiritual teacher, more than simply a teacher, is like the axis and support, the person whose mission is to teach the science and wisdom of their clan, to keep the fire burning, to preserve the ancient knowledge and continue the investigation, for wisdom is always an interactive action through which we move closer to our fullness as human beings.

Let us today reflect on everyone who taught us, supported us, and offered us help. Let us ask for blessings for them and for their families. To the extent that we remember and give thanks, to that same extent other hands will be extended to us.

En Wajxaqib’ Kej, el día que honra a la autoridad espiritual, quiero honrar a mi papá, Tat Carlos Barrios, que compartió tanto de su saber conmigo, siendo uno de mis maestros en mi sendero de Ajq’. Así que lo voy a hacer recordando y compartiendo sus palabras sobre lo que significa ser un maestro.

Si tú no extiendes una mano al de abajo, no estires la tuya, pues nunca llegará la mano de arriba y mucho menos si no supiste apreciar lo que hicieron por ti, es cuestión de la ley de la reciprocidad, debemos ayudar a los que vienen escalando, pero tristemente vemos que la tendencia es el egoísmo, el no compartir, como si el conocimiento fuera privativo de uno. No sé quién les dio derecho a estas personas a esconder lo que es de todos. El problema radica en que con ese conocimiento se creen poderosos y su creencia les dice que al compartirlo van a perder su fama, su poder y su fuente de ingresos. No se dan cuenta de que con estas acciones solo se estancan y retrasan su evolución.

Recordemos que el maestro espiritual, más que un maestro es como el eje y sostén, la persona que tiene la misión de enseñar la ciencia y sabiduría de su clan, de mantener el fuego encendido, de preservar el conocimiento antiguo y continuar la investigación, pues la sabiduría siempre es una acción interactiva en la que se nos acerca a la plenitud como seres humanos.

Hagamos hoy un recuento de todo aquel que nos enseñó, apoyó y nos brindó ayuda. Pidamos bendiciones para él y su familia. En la medida que recordemos y agradezcamos, en esa medida nos tenderán otras manos.

The voice is the sound through which our being expresses itself. Every word we speak and every word we tell ourselves carries the power to create; it moves with the wind to bring things into our lives, to build, to inspire… or to bring us down. On this day, guided by the powerful wind of Oxib’ Iq’, let us take a moment to observe what we are communicating through the instrument of our voice. How do we communicate with ourselves and with others? May the trecena of Ajpu lead us to have a voice that carries light, that inspires, that is precise and assertive.

Que lo que nace de nuestra voz esté alineado con la luz que somos.

La voz es el sonido a través del cual se expresa nuestro ser. Cada palabra que decimos y que nos decimos tiene la fuerza para crear; se mueve con el viento para traer cosas a nuestra vida, para construir, para inspirar… o para traernos abajo. Tomemos en este día regido por el poderoso viento de Oxib’ Iq’ un momento para observar qué estamos comunicando con el instrumento de nuestra voz. ¿Cómo nos comunicamos con nosotros mismos y con los demás? When we let go of the idea of how we think things should be, we open space for all that can happen.
