Our mind has the power to transform what we live.

We are in the trecena of Aj, which reminds us of the importance of the body. Its energy invites us to know the body as a way to know ourselves, because it is through the body that we live and relate to the world. Through it we feel, perceive, walk, speak, and inhabit this existence.

Today, when under the energy of Job’ No’j we recognize the brain as part of this body, as a powerful tool for our perception of reality, I want to share some words from my father, Elder Carlos Barrios:

“The great Elders focused their attention on all that we perceive. We are bombarded with a great amount of information every second and we process only a very small percentage. This information remains stored in our brain memory and we can use it when we need it. That is the MAJESTY of the brain, that is why the ancestors say that the conception of reality is infinite. Understanding this is very important for the formation of reality.”

May the energies of this day help us to recognize the depth of who we are, to see the wonder of every part of the body and how by functioning as a whole it gives us all we need, our power, gifts, and senses; we lack nothing and today the potential of the mind can open paths we have yet to imagine.

Estamos en la trecena de Aj, que nos recuerda la importancia del cuerpo. Su energía nos invita a conocer el cuerpo como una forma de conocernos a nosotros mismos, porque es a través de él que vivimos y nos relacionamos con el mundo; por medio de él sentimos, percibimos, caminamos, hablamos y habitamos este plano.

Hoy que estamos bajo la energía de Job’ No’j, y reconocemos al cerebro como parte de este cuerpo, como una herramienta poderosa para nuestra percepción de la realidad, quiero compartir unas palabras de mi papá, Tat Carlos Barrios:

“Los Grandes Abuelos fijaron su interés en la atención, en todo lo que percibimos. Estamos siendo bombardeados de muchísima información cada segundo y solo procesamos un porcentaje muy pequeño. Esta información queda guardada en nuestra memoria cerebral y la podemos utilizar cuando la necesitemos, eso es lo MAJESTUOSO del cerebro, por eso dicen los abuelos que la concepción de la realidad es infinita. Entender esto es de suma importancia para la formación de la realidad.”

Que las energías de este día nos ayuden a reconocer la profundidad de lo que somos, a ver la maravilla de cada parte del cuerpo y cómo al funcionar como una unidad nos da todo lo que necesitamos, nuestro poder, dones, sentidos; no carecemos de nada y el potencial de la mente puede abrirnos caminos que aún no imaginamos.

The mistakes we make are part of our learning process in life; they are tools that bring us wisdom.

Let us remember that making mistakes does not mean there is something wrong with us, it means that we are human beings who are growing and developing. Mistakes are part of the beauty of our journey, they give us experience and help us walk towards ourselves and become more authentic. Today, the energies remind us that none of us is perfect and that we are all learning, so let us see ourselves with more love and empathy. We should not be our own worst critics; forgiving ourselves is often the most important thing we need to practice.
Los errores que cometemos son parte de nuestro aprendizaje en la vida, son herramientas que nos aportan sabiduría.

Recordemos que si nos equivocamos no es porque algo esté mal con nosotros, sino porque todos somos seres humanos en crecimiento. Errar es parte de la belleza de nuestro camino, es lo que nos va dando la experiencia para ir caminando hacia nosotros mismos y ser más auténticos. Hoy las energías nos recuerdan que ninguno de nosotros es perfecto, todos estamos aprendiendo, así que veámonos con amor y empatía, no seamos nuestros peores críticos, pues a veces la habilidad de perdonarnos a nosotros mismos es lo que más debemos practicar.

They say we teach more by example than by words, and today, with the creative energy so present, I remembered one of those teachings I not only heard but saw come to life.

Today we are accompanied by the energies of Tz’ikin, who opens paths of good fortune, and Oxib’, who activates the power to create. My father, Tat Carlos Barrios, born under the star of Tz’ikin, used to say the power of this day is so great it can make possible what seems impossible. What matters is remembering that this reality is created by us and believing, without leaving room for doubt, that yes, we can create it. This was not something he only said, he lived it. He had such a certainty that he would achieve what he set out to do, that sometimes it seemed like he made magic. Things happened to him so amazing that when told, they could seem hard to believe.

This is what I want to share today: we all have that same capacity to create, we just need to believe it.
Nuestra buena fortuna empieza con la certeza de que es posible crear todo eso que soñamos.

Se dice que se enseña más con el ejemplo que con las palabras y hoy que la energía creativa está tan presente, recordé una de esas enseñanzas que no solo escuché sino que vi hacerse realidad.

Hoy nos acompañan las energías de Tz’ikin, que abre caminos de buena fortuna, y Oxib’, que activa el poder de crear. Mi papá, Tat Carlos Barrios, que nació bajo la estrella de Tz’ikin, solía decir que el poder de este día es tan grande que puede hacer posible lo que parece imposible. Que lo importante es recordar que esta realidad la creamos nosotros y creer, sin dejar espacio a la duda, que sí podemos crearla. Y esto no era algo que solo decía, lo vivía. Tenía una certeza tan firme en que iba a lograr lo que se proponía que a veces parecía que hacía magia. Le pasaban cosas tan impresionantes que al contarlas podían parecer difíciles de creer.

Eso es lo que quiero compartir hoy, que todos tenemos esa misma capacidad de crear, solo necesitamos creerlo.

Aj brings the energy of the foundations, it is the base of construction, the stalk of the corn. The Elders said that the base of our foundation is formed by the essence of maize. It is not a coincidence that we are called people of corn, because our body, which is our altar, is made of maize. There is another structure, which is the house, the space we inhabit, where we light our fire, our home. In the past, houses were made of corn stalks. This gives us shelter, belonging, a habitable space in connection with Mother Earth. From that relationship comes the power, the work of your life. We all have a space on her, to who we belong and of whom we are temporary guardians. Having that clarity in order to build a strong structure is the foundation of your development.

Hoy inicia una trecena bajo la energía de Ajaw Aj, que nos indica la fuerza interna, es la autoridad y el poder, es aprender el valor de cuidar, proteger y orientar para dar fortaleza. Aj nos dice que el camino comienza con el primer paso, así que hay que tomar acción, teniendo presente que todo se da al tener una buena base, unos buenos cimientos que nos proporciona Ajaw Aj. El poder y reconocimiento que da este Ch’umil no debe alejarnos de ser humildes y conscientes, pues uno de los mayores obstáculos del camino es el orgullo. Aj infunde un respeto basado en la experiencia, por lo que hay que poner atención y no ser impositivo, obsesivo, demasiado serio ni ser alguien que se vuelve gobernador.

Aj trae la energía de los cimientos, es la base de la construcción, es la caña del maíz. Los abuelos decían que la base de nuestro cimiento está formada por la esencia del maíz. No es nada más que se nos llame hombres de maíz, pues nuestro altar, nuestro cuerpo están hechos de maíz. Hay otra conformación que es la casa, el espacio que habitamos, donde prendemos nuestra hoguera, nuestro hogar. Antes se hacían las casas de caña de maíz; esta nos da refugio, pertenencia, un espacio habitable en conexión con la Madre Tierra. De esa relación surge el poder, el quehacer de tu vida. Todos tenemos un espacio sobre ella, a la que pertenecemos y de la que somos guardianes temporales. Tener esa claridad para una buena estructura es la base de tu desarrollo.

Taking a step into the unknown is not always comfortable, but staying in the familiar may limit what we are here to manifest.

Today we reach the last day of this Ajpu trecena, which throughout its journey has reminded us of the importance of having courage and certainty to be and to do, to shine with all our light. Dar un paso hacia lo desconocido no siempre es cómodo, pero quedarnos en lo conocido puede limitar lo que estamos llamados a manifestar.

Hoy llegamos al último día de esta trecena de Ajpu, que a lo largo de su recorrido nos ha recordado la importancia de tener valor y certeza para ser y hacer, para brillar con toda nuestra luz. Ahora que su energía influye en la de Oxlajuj E, que nos habla de manifestación y de nuestro caminar en esta existencia, nos enseñan que la energía se mueve cuando damos pasos firmes hacia nuestros sueños y propósitos.

It is true that we live in a society that encourages division and competition. This often makes us feel as though we must prove that we possess the ultimate truth, but the energies of this day invite us to shift that perspective, to trust in our own worth and beauty without needing to diminish others in order to shine. Let us remember that we are all fundamental to existence, that we all carry great gifts and that we are all working through deep processes. We make mistakes because we are human beings in a state of evolution. Today, we are invited to remember that evolving does not mean rising above others or looking down on anyone in order to feel worthy.
No necesitamos apagar otras luces para que la nuestra brille.

Cada uno de nosotros ve la realidad de forma distinta, hemos aprendido cosas diferentes, venimos de lugares diversos y cada quien trae un regalo único para ofrecer a la vida; esa es la magia de la existencia. Si observamos a los Ch’umilab’ como maestros, veremos que cada uno es distinto, tiene su propia sabiduría, retos y dones, pues todos contribuyen a que el calendario sea completo. Nosotros también somos así, diferentes, pero cada uno de nosotros es necesario para dar forma a un todo lleno de diversidad y riqueza.

Es verdad que vivimos en una sociedad que nos incita a la división y a la competencia, que nos hace sentir que tenemos que demostrar que poseemos una verdad única, pero hoy las energías nos invitan a cambiar esa mirada, a confiar en nuestro propio valor y belleza sin necesidad de hundir a otros para encender nuestra luz. Recordemos que todos somos fundamentales para la existencia y que todos tenemos grandes dones, pero también cosas profundas con las que estamos trabajando; nos equivocamos porque somos seres humanos en desarrollo. La invitación del día es a ser conscientes de que evolucionar no significa estar por encima de los demás ni mirar por debajo de nadie para ser mejores.

Lajuj Toj calls us to this. To channel our energy toward what nourishes us, to ignite the sacred fire of our existence and to make our life an expression of the blessing that it is to be alive.
Recordemos que cada momento de nuestra vida puede ser sagrado.

Pensemos en el poder que tenemos a través de nuestra energía. Imaginemos por un momento qué pasaría si la enfocamos en reconocer las bendiciones que nos regala la vida, si usamos nuestro tiempo y energía para crear, disfrutar, amar, si vivimos nuestra existencia como un momento sagrado, entonces estamos creando belleza y abriendo el espacio para que esa belleza fluya en nuestra vida.

Flourishing is not something that happens in a rush, so why not honor our own timing and rhythm?
