Keme is the door to all memory and thought that has existed, exists, and will exist. It is the key to understanding why we are at this level and how to take the reins of our life.
According to the Cholq’ij calendar, this day is ruled by Ajaw Keme, which carries the energy of life cycles and brings closure to the different stages or projects we live through. Keme is literally death. It is the Ch’umil that protects us from an untimely death and grants us space in this dimension to fulfill our purpose. It is also the ancestors who have transcended and the portal to dimensions and realms of reality that exist parallel to this one. This Ch’umil / Nawal refers to death in its physical, emotional, mental, and, in some way, spiritual forms. When we speak of this field, we refer to cycles that open and must always close. This happens in all these forms. Our existence is made of cyclical stages. There is a cycle for being born, for growing, for learning, for everything. This is connected to the spirals of Najt, Space-Time.
In our lives there are important cycles. A person moves through 13 year cycles that shape their being. The first stage runs from birth to age 13, when childhood is left behind, and it is related to the element of Fire. It is inexhaustible force, formation and growth, and grounding oneself as a human being. The second stage goes from 13 to 26, related to the element of Earth. It is a stage of learning through experience, often by learning from mistakes, forming strength. From 26 to 39 it is related to the element of Air and is the stage of knowledge and learning through experience. It is a time of important growth and formation, continuing to learn with greater care. From 39 to 52 we are related to the element of Water. Here we enter the stage of experience that leads to wisdom, bringing calm and knowing how to act. It is a stage of evolution through transforming knowledge into wisdom. From 52 to 65 we enter the force of the element Ether, which brings the power to unite the four previous elements and transmute them into conscious wisdom that allows us to transform energies and fulfill the purpose of life.
Today is governed by Ajaw 11 Kan, the force of energetic action, the Feathered Serpent of transmutation that turns thought into action and knowledge into wisdom. This energy pushes us out of stagnation and calls us to act, leaving passivity behind. It speaks of rising from the Earth and taking flight toward Uk’u’x Kaj, the Heart of the Sky, moving toward higher states and fulfilling our purpose in life. I am reminded of the wise words of Elder Ramón, who said that we struggle for material and social success, yet in all of that we do not find happiness or true spiritual growth. This is not about being recognized as a great “teacher” or “initiated one,” but about reaching fulfillment, breaking bonds, and living in freedom. We are caught in a relentless rhythm of materialism that offers only illusions of satisfaction and keeps us running without arriving anywhere. We must become aware of our lives and our true destiny, and realize that there is more than what the current state of things allows us to see. We live in survival mode, without time to reflect, reacting to fleeting satisfactions, and losing sight of our true being. Today we are given the opportunity to envision our destiny and allow Ch’umil Kan to catalyze what is missing, projecting us into this reality. The guiding word is ACTION, and with it comes the responsibility for our evolution, for Kan represents the evolutionary path and the trials we live on Earth in order to reach realization.
The most intricate net is the one we cast and trap ourselves in.
We are the result of what we have determined in the past, the decisions we have made affect us throughout our life. Have you ever asked yourself: What if I had not done it, if I had decided to do it better? But there is no turning back, you can’t turn time back. Even so, there are ways to harmonize ourselves with the past, to remember our decisions, whether positive or erroneous, which brought us to where we are now. This is the way to take responsibility and awareness of what we have forged. From there we can begin to change, forgive, accept, and define what we really want. We all want to achieve happiness and we hear that this or that gives it to us, but the truth is we that have to live many of these things to realize who we really are and what we want, the idea is clarity.
Much is said about the power of the mind, about the creation of thought. Many people believe this is something that emerged in recent times, but since the origin of humanity there has been awareness of this creative force. What happens is that, although it may seem contradictory, by thinking too much and giving so much space to academic knowledge, we lost the essence of the power of thought, its creativity. Today, reason is worshipped, and the most important aspect, the essence of the power of thought, has been left aside. We have no idea how thought originates. We know that through electrochemical discharges the synaptic chain in the brain is generated, an interconnection of millions of our brain cells that outlines and gives rise to a thought, an idea. But we are not aware that this is where the true power lies, in having control over this action and directing those ideas. That is what we call creativity, and it is the beginning of shaping reality. It is because of this power that the elders define us as “creative beings.” Iq’ is one of the Ch’umilab’ that opens the space for us to understand, perceive, and create our own reality, to control and direct thought. Ideas and images are the foundation of this. We must begin by holding onto a single idea, a single image, that is, one thought, because in the West we experience such a level of distraction that our mind jumps from one thought to another without control. We need to learn to control and direct our thoughts. Once we reach this goal, we can, through focused concentration, directed meditation, begin to create our reality.
After greeting the wise elder, I told Don Ramón that I wanted to ask him about what is often called the “madness” associated with Imox. He explained that in recent times there has been a great deal of interference in the texts, with people adding words based on what each person thinks or understands within the Great Tradition. He reminded me that we have not changed the texts, not even a single word of the oral tradition that has been passed down for thousands of years. Yet today many believe they have the right to speak on our behalf. Most do not do so with bad intentions; the real problem is that respect for the Elders has been lost. There are people who read a little or spend some time with an Ajq’ij and then believe that this gives them the right to write, interpret, or add their own ideas to the meaning of our knowledge. The problem is that this confuses many people, who are told that this is Maya. We are living in a time of openness of knowledge, but in the desire to stand out, the true meaning that has prevailed in the depth of the schools is distorted, not only in the Maya tradition, but in others as well.
Life is a mystery to those who live unconsciously.

This day is guided by Ajaw 5 Kawoq, which carries the energy of family, community, and, more broadly, humanity. This Ch’umil also represents abundance and, in these times is marking the destiny of humanity.
This day is ruled by Ajaw 3 No’j, which manifests as knowledge that becomes wisdom, it is balance and harmony. It is the power of the mind that allows creativity to arise. No’j is the true and profound knowledge of things, people and situations, and it is what allows us to interact with reality. It shows us the need to review our actions and the way we move through life, making possible harmony, peace, understanding, knowledge, creativity, and the creation of our own reality.
