Programs

Deeper learning of ancient lineages comes not only through intellectual understanding but from a transformation of being and relationship catalyzed by experience. We are here not to be hoarders of knowledge or spiritual tourists, but to change the eyes through which we see the world.

We facilitate opportunities for keepers of ancient traditions to appropriately share their wisdom, knowledge and practices through workshops, presentations, consultations, ceremonies and immersion experiences.

Living Lineages Support

Direct support to the traditions Saq’ B’e accompanies — Mayan, Amazonian, Andean, and Sierra Nevada communities. Recent projects include the construction of Casa de los Nawales in Chichicastenango, an art and teaching space, the ongoing filming and documentation of elders and traditions for future accessibility, a medicinal teaching garden in Chichicastenango working with local herbalists to reawaken ancestral knowledge within the K’iche’ community, and work with the Sarayaku community in Ecuador to strengthen pathways toward decolonizing medicine and uplifting innate healing practices.

Maya Wisdom Gatherings

Public teachings with visiting elders and lineage holders from the Guatemalan highlands. These take the form of workshops, talks, and sacred fire ceremonies held in Santa Fe, NM. Recent gatherings have included multi-day workshops on the Cholq’ij calendar in everyday life, talks on Maya cosmogony, and sacred fire ceremonies.

Pilgrimage & Field Study

Small group journeys to sacred sites and ceremonies in Guatemala’s highland regions — Ixil, K’iche’, and Kaqchikel territories. These immersion experiences have been part of Saq’ B’e’s work since 2003, including trips for Maya New Year celebrations and visits to communities maintaining living traditions.

Daily Practice & Online Teachings

Ongoing ways to connect with Maya wisdom from wherever you are. The Daily Ch’umil offers a reading of each day’s Nawal, published on the site and delivered by email. The site also hosts a library of stories and teachings, the 20 day signs, the 13 numbers, candle color meanings, and a live Maya calendar converter.

Personal Sessions

When elders visit, personal consultations are available:
Maya astrology — interpretation of your Maya sign to understand your energy and how to use it to its full potential.
Divination — guidance through the sacred Tz’ite beans, providing direction on specific life questions.
Limpias and healings — energy cleansing to help release negative burdens in the body, heart, spirit and soul.
Sessions are offered during elder visits. To be notified of upcoming visits and events, sign up for the Sacredroad Runner newsletter.

While some programs have fees to help cover expenses, they are only possible thanks to the generous donations of supporters like you. Saq’ B’e has been a volunteer-led organization for over twenty-five years.
