Saq' Be' works to open doors of opportunity for non-traditional people
to learn, meet and share directly with traditional people, both in the homelands
of traditional people and in the United States. The Journey to the Homelands
program provides an opportunity for participants to spend time in Native lands
learning directly from traditional spiritual guides in a manner that is mutually
respectful and supportive. This program is focused on introducing participants
to the ancient culture, science, spirituality and medicine of the people while
providing support to the guides and communities that host us. Likewise, meetings
in the U.S. serve to introduce people to traditional teachings through workshops,
seminars, ceremonies and talks that involve bringing Native spiritual guides,
leaders, and elders to this country. This program is focused on providing participants
with ancient knowledge, wisdom and a broader cultural and global perspective
so they may return to apply this learning in their work to create a more harmonious
world. Participants are encouraged to continue to engage in this learning process
by experiencing multiple programs over time, permitting a deeper level of understanding
to unfold. These programs are open to all and strongly encourage the participation
of young adults.

Feb. 25-March 4, 2012: Mayan Ajq'ij in Santa Fe, NM
Lina and Denise Barrios will be returning to Santa Fe in late February/ early March of 2012 to present a series of workshops, a free public talk, personal consultations and a fire ceremony. As we have entered into the infamous year of 2012, Lina and Denise travel to Santa Fe from the highlands of Guatemala to share Mayan teachings about creating balance and creating harmony with the energies. For many, this is a rare opportunity to experience the teachings and practices of an ancient culture directly, in their own backyard. Lina and Denise arrive in a spirit of generosity, grounded in the practicality of a tradition capable of fostering both personal development and deep, integrated alignment. Carlos Barrios is a Mayan priest, respected by the Indigenous elders of Guatemala,
and directed by them to share their message and teachings with humanity. Along
with his brother Gerardo, Carlos is one of the world's foremost authorities
on the Mayan calendars, including the sacred Cholq'ij (Tzolkin) calendar
which measures the daily cycles of energy as it relates to human beings.

Mayan New Year: May/June, 2004 in Guatemala Dates: May 21-May 31 Elders, Ajq'ij (Mayan Priests) and communities from Guatemala are opening their arms and
their hearts to outsiders. Some of the keepers of the traditional Mayan science,
medicine, wisdom and spirituality are willing to share aspects of their sacred
teachings. Saq' Be' is a non-profit organization formed in part to
facilitate an exchange between traditional wisdom keepers and non-traditional
people in a manner that is both mutually respectful and beneficial. The Journey
to the Homelands program is designed to host this sort of an exchange by bringing
visitors that value such a sharing to the homelands of ancient traditions. The
program provides an opportunity for non-traditional people to learn from the
keepers of ancient knowledge and wisdom while directly supporting the guides
and Indigenous communities that host us. This program fosters spiritual development,
the broadening of cross-cultural understanding and an increased comprehension
and capacity for affecting positive change in the world. It is the message of
the elders that now is the time to unite in solidarity so that balance and harmony
