1 Iq’ – Solstice & Cosmic Wayeb’
In the vision of the Maya elders of the Mam area, on December 21, together with the winter Solstice, begins a period of 5 resting days for Grandfather Sun. They refer to this time as the Cosmic Wayeb’. This is a moment in which the Sun is apparently stagnant in a corner of the Universe and according to the wise elders during this moment we should also take some time, we should make a stop and open a space for meditation and reflection, since this position of Ajaw Sun brings a quietness to our mind. These days are seen as a ceremonial moment in which we make practices that allow us to be in complete harmony with ourselves and with the world that surrounds us, they are the time and space in which we can be in contact with our being, do an introspection, review the purpose of our existence and the course we want to take in this new time. Let ‘s use these 5 days as a tool to renovate ourselves and plan our purpose. We can also make a projection at a communitary level. Let’s visualize and determine the well-being of our community, making it expansive to all humanity; this is of great importance during these times of change, of a new cycle in which we find ourselves in an evolutionary process together with Mother Earth. When realizing this projection let’s not forget that our mind has an infinite power.
The Cosmic Wayeb’ is in relation to the Solstice and it will take place from December 21st until the 25th. Its influence is in accordance with the energies of the Sacred Cholq’ij Calendar. The Solstice and the beginning of the resting days of Grandfather Sun will happen on a day 1 Iq’, which also opens the trecena. 1 Iq’ is the wind that nurtures and purifies, that allows us to transcend the limits of the mind to transmute our reality. Its energy opens the space to creation, to projecting our thoughts without limits in order to develop our creative ability. Iq’ rules over words and communication, it gives power to our words and brings force to the prayers we elevate to the Father and Mother of the Universe. This Ch’umil connects us to our spiritual plane, it strengthens our development in that manifestation and it expands our intuition. The trecena that begins on this day is related to practicing consciousness and managing the power of our mind. Today, when we connect to the power of the Solstice and Wayeb’, let’s not forget to also invoke the winds of the four directions to charge ourselves with the power of this Ch’umil.
Let’s remember that the ancestral wisdom indicates that we must be aware in each action of life. The recommendation is to take this opportunity with the necessary determination and calmness to search within. The wisdom, peace, harmony, and knowledge reside in the depths of our being, we just need to be determined to find them.

En la visión de los abuelos Mayas del área Mam el 21 de diciembre, con el Solsticio de Invierno, comienza un período de 5 días de descanso del Abuelo Sol. Ellos han denominado a estos días el Wayeb’ Cósmico. Este es un momento en el que el Sol queda aparentemente inmóvil en una esquina del universo y de acuerdo a los sabios abuelos durante este momento de descanso del Abuelo Sol nosotros también debemos tomarnos un tiempo, debemos parar y abrir el espacio para la meditación y la reflexión, pues esta postura del Ajaw Sol nos permite una quietud de mente. Estos días son vistos como un momento ceremonial en el que llevamos a cabo prácticas que nos permiten estar en completa armonía con nosotros mismos y el mundo que nos rodea, es el espacio y tiempo en el que podemos estar con en contacto con nuestro ser, hacer una introspección, revisar el propósito de nuestra existencia y el rumbo que queremos tomar en este nuevo tiempo. Utilicemos estos 5 días como una herramienta para renovarnos y planificar nuestros propósitos. También podemos hacer una proyección a nivel comunal, visualicemos y determinamos el bienestar de nuestra comunidad haciéndola expansiva a toda la humanidad, esto es de suma importancia en estos tiempos de cambio, de un nuevo ciclo en el que estamos nos encontramos en un proceso de evolución junto a la Madre Tierra. Al realizar esta proyección no olvidemos que el poder de nuestra mente es infinito.
El Wayeb’ Cósmico va en relación al Solsticio y tiene lugar del 21 al 25 de diciembre. Su influencia va acorde a las energías del Calendario Sagrado Cholq’ij. El Solsticio y el inicio de estos días de descanso del Padre Sol tendrán lugar en un día 1 Iq’, que también abre la trecena. 1 Iq’ es es el viento que nutre y purifica, que nos permite trascender los límites de la mente para transmutar nuestra realidad. Su energía abre el espacio a la creación, a proyectar nuestro pensamiento sin límites para desarrollar nuestra capacidad de crear. Iq’ rige sobre las palabras y la comunicación, da poder a nuestras palabras y fortalece las oraciones que elevamos al Padre y Madre del Universo. Este Ch’umil nos conecta a nuestro plano espiritual, fortalece nuestro desarrollo en esa manifestación y expande nuestra intuición. La trecena que inicia hoy está relacionada a estar conscientes y manejar el poder de nuestra mente. Hoy, cuando nos conectemos al poder del Solsticio y el Wayeb’, no olvidemos invocar también el viento de las cuatro direcciones para cargarnos del poder de este Ch’umil.
Recordemos que el conocimiento ancestral nos indica estar conscientes en cada acción de la vida. La recomendación es tomar esta oportunidad con la determinación necesaria, con tranquilidad buscando dentro de nosotros mismos. La sabiduría, la paz, la armonía y el conocimiento están en lo profundo de cada ser, solo hay que estar determinados a encontrarlos.
